Nearly 10 years building backend services, distributed systems, and data platforms. Over the past few years, I've worked as an individual contributor on the backend services of a last-mile delivery platform, building production systems with Scala and functional programming. I enjoy designing software that's reliable, maintainable, and built on clean architectural principles.
I started my career as a Data Engineer, building and scaling ETL pipelines and analytics infrastructure, before transitioning to backend engineering. That background has given me an appreciation for how data platforms and operational systems complement each other.
While Scala remains my favourite language, I'm interested in software engineering beyond any particular technology. I enjoy learning new tools and languages, and I'm equally happy working across the JVM ecosystem or with other modern statically typed, compiled languages when they're the right fit for the problem.
I'm also interested in AI-assisted developer tooling when it helps engineers build better software, and I'm a strong advocate for remote-first teams and asynchronous communication.
